Check Out The Performance Of 2020 Mahindra Thar In Snow – Video

Here is a video where you can see how the 2020 Mahindra Thar performs while running on snow and all the problems that it has faced during this stint.

Off-roading videos of 2020 Mahindra Thar have started coming in and people have already began their expedition. Here is the first video of the new Thar trying out the snow and slippery surface, that is different from what people usually do. While the SUV has managed to make its way through many obstacles, here is one such where hardly any owners have tried. Check out the video ahead!

As you can see, the 2020 Mahindra Thar is out in the snow in Gulmarg, Kashmir with Toyota Fortuner and Maruti Gypsy. It is the top-end LX diesel manual variant which gets alloy wheels. In the starting, you can see the SUV trying to make its way ahead with people seated and trying very hard to maintain the traction. However, soon, it loses traction and gets stuck in the snow.

The SUV then tries to take a U-turn back, start the hill climb from the start. However, again, it gets stuck after a couple of seconds finding really hard to maintain the traction. Then other people had to put the traction board which helped the Thar move ahead. Despite getting all-terrain tyres, the SUV was constantly slipping. That indicates that the tyres installed are not helpful in snow or slippery areas.

Also, we are not sure if the owner had engaged the 4L (Low) mode which is necessary for a terrain where going gets tougher. In the 4L mode, the system would have ensured better traction and adequate power to respective tyres. Also, if the owner had installed aftermarket tyres with better treading it would have definitely worked here. The new Thar is highly capable and there are many videos of it going through different obstacles.

2020 Mahindra Thar gets a 2.0 Litre mStallion petrol engine that produces 150 BHP and 320 Nm along with a 2.2 Litre mHawk turbo-diesel engine that produces 130 BHP and 320 Nm. Both the engines get the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter. Only the LX variants are offered with an automatic gearbox, while the AX (O) variants get a manual gear as standard. The earlier base-spec AX variants are now discontinued.
