KTM 250 Adventure Launched for a Price of Rs 2.48 lakh in India!

The KTM 250 Adventure is priced at Rs 2.48 lakh, ex-showroom and at this price, it is a whole Rs 50,000 cheaper than the 390 Adventure. The 250 Adventure actually has a lot in common with the 390 Adventure than with the Duke 250.

Following the 390 Adventure, KTM launched their second adventure model in India with the 250 Adventure a few days ago. The KTM 250 Adventure is priced at Rs 2.48 lakh, ex-showroom and at this price, it is a whole Rs 50,000 cheaper than the 390 Adventure. KTM didn’t quite have the success they hoped for with the 390 Adventure and now with the new 250 Adventure, their Adventure range of motorcycles is a little more accessible than before. Considering that the trend of adventure tourer motorcycles are continuing to rise in the country, the 250 Adventure should help KTMs case in India.

Underpinnings from the 390 Adventure minus a few features and a motor from the Duke 250 – that’s what makes KTM’s entry-level adventure bike in India. The 250 Adventure actually has a lot in common with the 390 Adventure than with the Duke 250 – frame, wheels, braking hardware, suspension and even the off-road ABS. The 250 Adventure however uses a new LCD instrument display which the 390 Adventure misses out on. Conversely, the 250 Adventure misses out on the quickshifter, cornering ABS, ride-by-wire throttle and traction control system from the 390.

In terms of styling, the 250 Adventure looks largely similar to its elder cousin with most body panels almost being identical. But while KTM recently updated the Duke 250 with full-LED headlamps from the Duke 390, the 250 Adventure comes with halogen headlights with LED DRLs, just like the older Duke 250. The motorcycle is available in two color options – orange and black.

At its heart, the 250 Adventure is powered by the same 250cc single-cylinder engine that powers the Duke 250. In BS6 guise, this motor produces 30PS of power and 24Nm of torque. It comes mated to the same 6-speed gearbox and KTM is expected to keep this gear ratios similar to the Duke 250, just as they did with the 390 Adventure. And that is why these high revving motors aren’t particularly adept in off-road conditions. With the 250 Adventure, it will be forth motorcycle using the 250cc engine, the others being the Duke 250 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250.

As mentioned earlier, the steel trellis frame, sub-frame and wheels are identical to the 390 Adventure. Just like its elder sibling, the 250 Adventure uses 43mm WP Apex fork (non-adjustable) at the front and a WP Apex monoshock that gets only preload adjustment at the rear. Ground clearance of 200mm and suspension travel (170mm front/ 177mm rear) is identical to the 390 as well. Even the 63.5-degree steering head angle is identical to the 390 and so are the 100/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear wheel sizes. All in all, the 250 Adventure is essentially a 390 with a smaller engine. The new KTM 250 Adventure rivals the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 1.91-1.95 lakh) and the new BMW G 310 GS (Rs 2.85 lakh).
