New Lexus UX Premium Sport Edition launched

Lexus has expanded the UX’s range of trim-levels with a new Premium Sport Edition variant. It adds a few more creature comforts and styling features to the entry-level Premium Pack Plus model – and it’s available to order now, with prices starting from £33,150.

Cosmetic upgrades for the Lexus UX Premium Sport Edition are minimal, stretching to a fresh set of 18-inch alloy wheels and blacked-out replacements for the standard car’s radiator grille, door mirror casings, roof rails and headlamp units.

Inside, buyers get black synthetic leather upholstery and a few more technology features, such as a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert and an integrated sat-nav system for the SUV’s standard seven-inch infotainment system.

Like the base-model UX, buyers also get rear privacy glass, heated seats, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a reversing camera with parking sensors. There’s a decent level of safety equipment, too, including adaptive cruise control, lane assist and road-sign assist.

It’s powered by a “self-charging” hybrid powertrain, which comprises a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor and a compact battery pack. The system has an output of 181bhp and Lexus says it’ll return up to 53.3mpg, while producing only 124g/km of CO2 – which secures it a 27 percent benefit-in-kind rating for company car tax.
